With the globalization of material, which is a gift to the globe, and the availability of a wealth of content at the press of a button, we have neglected to connect with our mother-tongue content, which has somehow become lost. This is where Chaupal comes in, as an OTT platform aiming to bring the best of regional movies and web series to help increase Punjabi entertainment content globally.
Chaupal claims to bridge the gap between the general populace and their maa boli by providing superior quality content in Punjabi. Cinema is evolving all the time, and filmmakers are attempting to make as many regional films as possible in order to raise awareness of their maa boli. Like hit Punjabi music bangers, which have the power to link people who don’t even comprehend the language to its beats and are played all over the world, including Coachella, Punjabi cinema is a class apart and can be appreciated by people from all over the world, and Chaupal is the bridge.
As a public service, our Chaupal team recently traveled on the ground to bring the OTT platform closer to you and to raise awareness about it among the people of Punjab. The first leg includes on-the-ground activation in nine dynamic Punjab cities from September 8th to September 20th, beginning in Tarn Taran and continuing to Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Kapurthala, Hoshairpur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, and ultimately finishing in Mohali. From the 9th to the 26th of November, the second leg encompassed Kurali and Kharar, Zirakpur, Mohali, Sirhand, Patiala, Mansa, Talwandi, Bhatinda, Abohar, Fazilka, Faridkot, Ferozpur, Moga, and Jagraon.
The Chaupal team spent one to two days in each location, conducting various on-the-ground events to raise public knowledge of the Chaupal App. ‘Nukkadnataks’ were performed in these spaces in colleges and schools, and promotional teams set up canopies where people could come and ask questions about content and subscriptions. Not only that, but students were handed Chaupal key rings as freebies, and bundles of Chaupal-branded bags were distributed to numerous nearby merchants. We even had LED trucks roaming the streets.
Mr Sandeep Bansal, Managing Director of Chaupal, highlighted his company’s desire to connect deeply with the people of Punjab. “The goal is to connect with Punjabis not only in India, but also in countries such as Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and many others,” he said. We aim to reach out to every Punjabi household and remind them that Punjabi cinema is on par with Bollywood and Hollywood, and that we bring the best content from all genres. “Chaupal is an emotional connection that connects the audience to their cultural roots through a curated collection of regional films and web series geared towards diverse age groups.”
